ITHACA, N.Y. – Any Cornell University students that are interested in learning how to become a member of the Big Red men’s heavyweight, men’s lightweight or women’s rowing teams are invited to attend an informational meeting at the Friedman Wrestling Center on Wednesday, August 25 at 5:00 p.m. The meeting should last approximately one-hour.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell broke ground on its $8 million Boathouse Renovation and Expansion Project this past June and thanks to an unusually dry summer, a great deal of construction has already been done. The newly renovated John Collyer Boat House and Doris Robison Shell House should be completed by May and will be fully operational for the 2011-12 rowing season.

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – John Redos, a rising sophomore on the Cornell men’s lightweight rowing team, earned a berth to the United States Under-23 national team this past weekend after participating at the 2010 Under 23 World Championships Trials on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. Redos’ crew is one of 15 selected to represent the U.S. at the 2010 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, held from July 22-25 in Brest, Belarus.

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for All-Ivy Academic honors in spring sports this week. The 80 men and women were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. ITHACA, N.Y. – Alumni Weekend is always a special time in Ithaca, as Cornellians of all ages return to the East Hill to reconnect with friends and the University. This year’s Alumni Weekend was extra special for the Big Red Rowing alumni who gathered at the Collyer Boathouse on Saturday, June 12 to celebrate as Cornell broke ground on its $8 million Boathouse Renovation and Expansion Project.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell seniors Alyson Intihar (Zelienople, Pa.), Troy Nickerson (Chenango Forks, N.Y.) and Ryan Wittman (Eden Prairie, Minn.) were recipients of the Charles H. Moore Outstanding Senior Varsity Athlete Award on Monday evening at the school's annual senior athletics banquet. Kerry Quinn (Havertown, Pa.) and Liz Zorn (Churchville, N.Y.) both earned the Ronald P. Lynch Senior Spirit Award, given to student-athletes whose leadership on and off the field models the ideals of the Big Red athletics department. Colin Greening (St. John’s, Newfoundland) was recognized with the Mario St. George Boiardi '04 Leadership Award for most embodying leadership, athleticism and a strong work ethic.

ITHACA, N.Y. – All three Cornell rowing teams had great success today with both the heavyweight and lightweight men’s squads excelling at the EARC Sprints, held on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., while the women’s team had a great showing at the EAWRC Sprints on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J. Collectively, 14-of-16 Big Red boats advanced to the Grand Finals, with nine crews finishing in the medals.
