ITHACA, N.Y. -- A trio of changes have shaken up the coaching staff for the Cornell track and field program, with one departure, one addition and one promotion helping to fill out the staff for the 2010-11 season. Coupled with the retirement of throwing coach Mark Bilyk, the new-look staff will still have several familiar faces as the Big Red seeks to continue its unprecedented success in the Ivy League.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Fresh off having six members of the 2010 Cornell men's track and field team earning All-Academic Team honors from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association last week, the organization today announced that Cornell is one of 73 teams across the country to earn All-Academic status by posting a cumulative grade point average of better than 3.00 during the 2009-10 academic year.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Six members of the Cornell men's track and field team were honored by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for their work on the track and in the classroom by earning a spot on the 2010 All-Academic Team, the organization announced on Thursday. The six Cornellians are among the 357 athletes honored by the USTFCCCA.

MONCTON, New Brunswick -- Rising sophomore Bruno Hortelano-Roig finished 21st overall in the 200m at the IAAF World Junior Championships on Thursday in Moncton, New Brunswick. He still remains eligible to compete with Spain on the 4x100m relay team.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- After over 30 years of college coaching, including 27 years as the mentor for the Big Red men's and women's throwers, Mark Bilyk has retired from coaching this summer. For the past two seasons, Bilyk has also balanced his duties as the head equipment manager for the Cornell Athletic Department, a position he moved into full-time on July 1.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Tom Gage '65, a member of the Cornell Athletics Hall of Fame, passed away on Thursday at his home in Billings, Mont. Gage was inducted into the Cornell Hall of Fame in 1988 and competed at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany. He was 67.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Bruno Hortelano-Roig ‘13, who recently completed a terrific freshman year with the Cornell men's track and field team, will continue his season at the IAAF World Junior Championships later this month where he will represent Spain in the 200 meters and on the 4X100 meter relay. He was selected for the team after competing in the Spanish Junior Championships last week.
