ITHACA, N.Y. -- Freshman Sidra Bonner (Denver, Colo.) and junior Eva Dixon (Los Angeles, Calif.) were both selected Honorable Mention All-Ivy League for their efforts in the 2008 season, the league office announced this afternoon. Dixon earns all-league honors for the third consecutive season, while Bonner receives the award in her first year of eligibility.

Bonner, a central defender, helped to stabilize a back line that featured a pair of first-year starters for most of the seaso. She started all 11 of the games that she appeared in, missing four contests in the middle of the season with an injury, but still returned to play in the final seven games of the season. She picked up her first collegiate point in the season-opening win over Oakland, garnering an assist on Cristina Law's goal.

Dixon, meanwhile, started 14 of the Big Red's 15 games and moved from her normal position at forward to an attacking midfield role this season to help the offense. She picked up her first point of the year, assisting on Brook Chang's goal at Columbia on Sept. 26, then scored the game-winning goal at Brown on Oct. 26 and tallied a second strike on Nov. 8 against Dartmouth in the closing seconds to force overtime, a game the Big Red would ultimately lose, 3-2. For the season, she scored five points on the two goals and one assist. Dixon previously earned honorable mention accolades as a sophomore after being named second-team All-Ivy as a freshman in 2006.

The young Cornell squad, featuring just one senior in Whitney Stich, posted a 2-12-1 record in 2008 and a 1-5 mark in Ivy League play.
