ITHACA, N.Y. -- For the fourth time this season, junior goaltender
Ben Scrivens has been named the ECAC Hockey Goaltender of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon. Scrivens earns the award for the fifth time in his career after posting a pair of victories over the weekend in the Capital District.
Scrivens backstopped the Big Red to a 4-1 victory on Friday at Union, then recorded his fifth shutout of the season in Cornell's 3-0 win at Rensselaer on Saturday. He stopped 28 of 29 shots on Friday and all 22 shots he faced on Saturday to record a 0.50 goals-against average and a .980 save percentage for the weekend.
Scrivens continues to lead the nation in both goals-against average and in save percentage, posting a 1.18 goals-against average and a .956 save percentage.
Scrivens and his Cornell teammates, ranked third in the country in the latest national polls, return to action on Friday night, facing Yale in a 7 p.m. contest at Lynah Rink.
