ITHACA, N.Y. – On Friday, Oct. 16, members of the Big Red men's lacrosse team participated in the Immaculate Conception School's third annual Fun Walk. The event raises money for the school by having the students get sponsors for each lap they take around the campus.

The Big Red spent the day providing encouragement to the walkers, cheering and giving high-fives to the children as they took their laps. The team also signed autographs and afterwards spent time with the children on the playground.

“It's always fun going down to Immaculate Conception because the kids are always so excited to see us,” said senior co-captain Pierce Derkac. “The Fun Walk was so great because we were able to see the kids we read to during the spring as a part of 'Big Red Readers' and we also are able to meet and converse with the faculty of the school as well as the parents of the children. We all had a blast, whether it was playing tag, answering questions, signing autographs, or swinging on the monkey bars. These kids look up to us and it's great to be able to reach out to the youth right here in Ithaca.”
