Women's Swimming Splits With Harvard, Dartmouth

ITHACA, N.Y. - Sophomore Chiara Spinazzola exploded onto the scene with two event wins and a second-place finish as the Cornell women's swimming and diving team earned a tri-meet win over Dartmouth and fell to Harvard on Saturday afternoon at Teagle Pool. It was the first meet competition for all three teams. Cornell knocked off Dartmouth 190.5-104.5, while the Crimson claimed a 166-98 decision over the Big Red. Harvard completed the meet sweeo with a 203-92 triumph over the Big Green.
Spinazolla won the 100 back in a pool record time of 56.83, becoming the first person to swim a sub 57-second mark in the event. She came back for a close second in the 100 free (52.56) and was .06 away from a pool record in the 100 fly (56.39) for her second win. She also swam a leg on the victorious 200 medley team that inched out the Crimson by 0.15. The team of Emily Dean, Juliann Rienecker, Spinazzol and Ali Guba touched first in 1:47.19.
