ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell senior forward
Matt Bouraee was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's Northeast District Second Team for his play during the 2009 season, the organization announced on Friday. Bouraee's honor is the first for a Big Red men's soccer player since Brian Kuritzky was named to the second team in 2007.
Bouraee led the Big Red in scoring this season, tallying 16 points on a team-best five goals and sharing the team lead with six assists. He scored a pair of game-winning goals, including an overtime strike in the season finale against Columbia, giving the Big Red its first season at or above .500 since 2001.
In all, 12 players from around the Ivy League were selected to one of the three all-region teams, with Dartmouth, Harvard and Princeton placing three each, Brown two and Cornell one.
