ITHACA, N.Y. – Junior John Jaklitsch took gold in the Flight A Singles at the 2009 Cornell Fall Invitational, defeating Concordia's Alex Grubin by default, while
Andy Gauthier and
Jeremy Feldman won the gold in the Flight A Doubles by defeating Big Red teammates Jon Fife and Jaklitsch, 8-4.
In addition to Jaklitsch, Cornell's
Jeremy Feldman,
Evan Bernstein,
Andy Gauthier and Jon Fife participated in the Flight A Singles. Gauthier made it to the quarterfinals, while Feldman advanced to the round of eight. Fife made it to the second round, but Bernstein was knocked out in the first round.
Bernstein came back to win the Flight A Consolation, defeating Stony Brook's Jon Epstein, 9-8(3), and Fife and won the second Flight A Consolation, beating Stony Brook's Halvar Dil, 9-7.
Four Big Red players participated in the Flight B Singles, with
Ashish Bhandari advancing to the round of eight before being knocked out by Concordia's Andreas Lindell. Cornell's
Richard Offutt and Jarod Karson both moved to the second round, while
Peter Nawara retired in the first round.
Karson defeated Army's Josh Krieter (8-2) to win the Flight B Consolations, while Nawara lost in the first round of the second Flight B Consolation.
In the Flight B Doubles, Bernstein and Bhandari advanced to the second round, while Nawara and Offutt fell in the first round.
