Gymnastics Heads To Penn State For Quad Meet

ITHACA, N.Y. -- After a successful first weekend of competition, the Cornell gymnastics team, will attempt to take another step forward when it heads to Penn State to compete in a Quadrangular meet on Saturday, Jan. 23, at 7 p.m. in University Park, Pa. The Big Red will compete against the host Nittany Lions, Iowa and Yale at Rec Hall.

The Big Red placed second at the University of Maryland quadrangular with a strong 189.375, besting both Temple and Bridgeport. Two days later, Cornell finished fourth at George Washington's Lindsey Ferris Invitational on Jan. 17, scoring a 186.800. Kerri Lavallee had a second place finish on vault to lead the Big Red individually as Cornell knocked off William & Mary and Penn.

Penn State ranks No. 22 in the country in the latest GymInfo Top 25 poll and has surpassed 193.900 in each of its two meets. Iowa is 2-2 with solid scores of 193.200 and 192.225 in its first two meets. Yale opened its season with a 186.525 at the University of New Hampshire Invitational.
