ITHACA, N.Y. -- Baseball America has picked Cornell to once again finish atop the Ivy League Gehrig Division standings in the annual college baseball preview. Cornell tied with Princeton for first place last season and advanced to the Ivy League Championship Series with a 9-0 victory over the Tigers in a one-game playoff.
The Baseball America preview also lists a pair of Cornell players among the top five prospects for the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft, including senior relief pitcher
David Rochefort (second) and sophomore outfielder/pitcher
Brian Billigen (fourth).
Cornell, under second-year head coach
Bill Walkenbach, returns 16 letterwinners, six starting position players and all but one member of the pitching staff to a team that went 17-23 overall and 10-10 in Ivy League play last season. The Big Red loses only five letterwinners from last year's team and welcomes 12 new faces to the roster for 2010.
