ITHACA, N.Y. -- Three-time All-American Chris Sachvie and sophomore Alex Domenick shared the men's squash team's most valuable player award, while senior Rachel Wagner was named the women's squash team's most valuable player, as voted on by their teammates in the annual end-of-season awards. The teams also voted rising senior Jennifer Gemmell and rising junior Lauren Sachvie as captains for the women's team, while rising seniors McKay Claghorn and Pat Brady will share the captain honors for the men's squad.

Sachvie was named a second-team All-American for the third straight season after posting an 9-6 record while playing at the top of the lineup for the entire season. Domenick, meanwhile, finished the season 7-10 and played at the top singles spot for the full year.

Wagner sported a 12-4 mark on the year, also winning her the award for the team's best record. Wagner played throughout the lineup but spent most of her time playing in the bottom half of the lineup.

Claiming the men's award for the best record was Rishi Jalan, who finished the season with an 12-5 mark. Jalan also took home the award for the Match of the Season, earning the honor after his 3-2 victory (11-9,11-9,7-11,7-11,11-7) over Dartmouth's Michael Shrubb, helping the Big Red to a 6-3 victory over the Big Green on Jan. 23.

The women's Match of the Season Award was shared by seniors Maxi Prinsen and Rebecca Hazell. Prinsen won an epic 3-2 decision over Stanford's Katie Corelli in the team national championships, winning the decisive fifth game by a 13-11 margin. Hazell, meanwhile, earned the award for her match at the national team championships against Williams' Toby Eyre, the Ephs' top player who was ranked fifth in the nation. Hazell battled Eyre step for step, ultimately falling by a 3-2 score after rallying to win the third and fourth games of the match.

The team's most improved player award went to seniors Liza Stokes and Chris Vernick. Stokes finished the season with an impressive 10-6 record, while Vernick posted a 8-1 mark on the year. The most sportsmanlike player awards went to freshman Jaime Laird and sophomore Thomas Spettigue.

Rounding out the season's awards, juniors Izzy Spyrou and Amar Gupta were both named CSA Scholar Athletes. To be eligible for the CSA Scholar Athlete award, a player must be either a junior or a senior with a cumulative 3.50 grade point average or higher and have played in 75 percent of the team's matches over the course of their career.
