ITHACA, N.Y – The Big Red men's lacrosse team had five players honored by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association today as the All-Americans and USILA Scholar All-Americans were announced. Pierce Derkac earned a spot on both lists, while Rob Pannell was Cornell's only first-team All-American selection. Ryan Hurley (All-American), Max Feely (All-American) and Austin Boykin (Scholar All-American) were also honored.

To be named a Scholar All-American a player must be in his senior academic year and own a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. He must also be a candidate for All-American or a member of the North/South team.

Derkac earns his first-ever All-American selection with a third-team nod, after being named first-team All-Ivy earlier this season. He has seen action in every game over the past three seasons and this year he has developed into the leader of the Cornell defense at the long-stick midfielder position. A finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for accomplishments on the field, in the classroom and in the community, Derkac serves as a team co-captain and has been an integral part of the Big Red's face-off unit. He currently ranks 33rd in the nation with 4.12 ground balls per game and is second on the team in caused turnovers (19). In the classroom, Derkac holds a 3.41 grade-point average and is majoring in Applied Economics and Management.

Pannell, the reigning Ivy League Player of the Year, earns his second consecutive All-American selection after being named to the third-team as a rookie. The sophomore attackman is currently ranked first in the nation in points per game (4.59) and is second overall in assists per game (2.88). A Tewaaraton Trophy nominee and a two-time Ivy League Player of the Week selection, he has registered five or more points in eight of the Big Red's 17 games and owns the fifth longest point-scoring streak in the nation, having registered a point in every game of his collegiate career (34 games). Earlier this season, Pannell tallied his 100th career point in just his 25th career game, becoming the fastest Cornell player to reach 100 career points since Tim Goldstein tallied 100 points in a single season over the span of 14 games in 1987. He currently ranks fifth in Cornell history in career assists with 91 and needs just six more points to move into the career points category. This season, he has registered the fourth most assists in a single season in Big Red history (49) and the 10th most points (78).

One of the best offensive players to ever wear a Cornell uniform, Hurley earns his third consecutive honorable mention All-American selection after leading the Big Red with 45 goals and ranking second on the team with 57 points. He currently ranks ninth in the nation in goals per game (2.65) and he is riding a 49-game point-scoring streak, the longest on the team and the third-longest in the nation. Hurley recently moved into second place in Cornell history for career goals (138) and ranks third overall in career points (176). He is also just the second player in Cornell history to score 40 goals in three-straight seasons, joining Mike French '76.

Feely earns his first-ever All-American accolade with an honorable mention selection. The junior defender has had a breakout year and was named honorable mention All-Ivy earlier this season. He moved into a starting role last season and this year has become a dominant presence on a Big Red defense that ranks 10th in the nation, allowing just 8.53 goals per game. He has become one of the premier shutdown defenders in the nation and has picked up 30 ground balls and caused 15 turnovers.

One of the team's unsung heroes, Boykin has proven to be one of the best short-stick defensive midfielders in the conference, earning a second-team All-Ivy selection. He has seen an increased role each and every year and this season he has taken on an added responsibility as the team's main option at the face-off X. Boykin has won 158-of-280 attempts, ranking 20th in the country with a .564 win percentage and he averages 3.5 ground balls per game. In the classroom, he holds a 3.2 GPA in Sociology with a minor in Eastern Asian Studies.

Cornell has advanced to its third Final Four since 2007 and will face Notre Dame on Saturday, May 29 at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md. at 4 p.m.
