ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell men's lacrosse freshman
Cody Bremner was named one of 10 finalists for the Canadian National Junior of the Year Award, as well as second-team All-Canadian, by the NLL Insider. Dillan Ward, a goaltender for the Orangeville Northmen and teammate of Cornell's
Jason Noble, took home the top honor.
Bremner's accolades come thanks to his performance this season with the New Westminster Salmonbellies of the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. The NLL Insider Rookie of the Year in 2008, Bremner has helped the Salmonbellies to a berth in the league championship, the Minto Cup. He finished the regular season as one of the top scorers in the league with 77 points on 41 assists and 36 goals, and has continued that trend into the playoffs.
Bremner comes to Cornell after four years at Claremont Secondary School, helping his team to back-to-back provincial championships. A talented hockey player as well, Bremner saw action in the BC Junior A Hockey League, playing for the Victoria Grizzlies and the Nanaimo Clippers.
