Cornell opened the game by scoring the first five points, including a thunderous dunk by Shonn Miller on a feed from Miles Asafo-Adjei to open the game. Ferry then hit the first of his seven treys after a steal by Wroblewski in the backcourt to force an Albany timeout.

The team traded baskets until consecutive baskets by the Big Red, a layup underneath by Eitan Chemerinski and another 3-pointer by Ferry gave Cornell a short-lived 45-44 lead.
