ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior place-kicker Brad Greenway has been named one of 10 finalists for the 2011 Fred Mitchell Award. The winner will be announced by December 15, and he will be honored on February 20, 2012 at the National Football Foundation Chicago Chapter Awards Ceremony at Halas Hall. The award goes to a kicker in the Football Championship Subdivision, Division II, Division III, NAIA or NJCAA that excels on the football field and in the community.

Greenway is one of four FCS kickers named as finalists, one of five seniors and is the only Ivy League place-kicker on the list. He was included on the preseason watch list prior to an outstanding senior year for the 5-5 Big Red football team.

Greenway was named first-team All-Ivy after leading the Ancient Eight in scoring (7.5 points per game), ranking 41st nationally. He set the Cornell kick scoring record for a career (189 points) and season (75 points), while his 189 career points ranks third all-time in Big Red history. Greenway finished 18th nationally in field goals (13, 1.3 per game), a mark that was second in the Ancient Eight. He was the only kicker in the Ivy League to post a perfect season on extra-point kicks (36-of-36) and was 5-of-5 on field goals of 40 yards or more. The two-time Special Teams Player of the Week also kicked off and punted for Cornell and was the team's captain on special teams.

Off the field, Greenway has been very active serving not only the Ithaca community, but also communities throughout the world. He was part of a program that gathered school supplies, cleats and jerseys to bring to children in Ghana as part of community service initiative. He also visited an Agent Orange community in Vietnam that has disabled children whose parents were impacted during the Vietnam War. There, he visited several schools to play with children. He reads to elementary school students as a volunteer as part of the Big Red Readers program. He also served as a volunteer coach in the Challenger Soccer Camps for special needs children. Greenway has also volunteered at Ithaca's Salvation Army by helping organize clothes and goods throughout the store, as well as volunteering with the Boys and Girls Club of San Diego.
