ITHACA, N.Y. -- After defeating Dartmouth to claim the program's second straight ECAC Hockey tournament title, the Big Red will again face the Big Green, this time in the first round of the NCAA tournament next weekend. The two teams will square off at Lynah Rink with a berth in the 2011 NCAA Frozen Four on the line on Saturday at 2 p.m.

The NCAA announced the selections on Sunday night, and the Big Red earned the second seed in the national tournament with its 30-2-1 overall record. Dartmouth earned an at-large bid into the field with a 22-11-0 record after falling to the Big Red in the ECAC Hockey championship game on Saturday at Lynah Rink.

Cornell will be making its second appearance in the NCAA tournament, following up on last season's run that culminated in advancing to the national title game, falling in triple overtime to Minnesota-Duluth. Last season, Cornell defeated Harvardin Cambridge, Mass., in the NCAA first round before beating Mercyhurst in the national semifinals in Minneapolis, Minn.
