ITHACA, N.Y. – The women's tennis wrapped up a two-win weekend on Sunday with a 5-2 victory over visiting Temple. The Big Red's Christine Ordway, Gabby Sullivan and Sara Perelman each had wins in both singles and doubles.
 
Cornell (2-0) swept the doubles matches to take the early lead. Freshmen Rosemary Li and Perelman made short work of Jordan Batey and Paola Calderon at the No. 3 spot, earning a quick 8-0 victory. The junior tandem of Sarah O'Neil and Ordway secured the doubles point with an 8-5 victory at the No. 1 spot – which turned out to be the same score recorded in the victory at No. 2 by freshmen Lauren Frazier and Sullivan.
 
Sullivan then rolled to a quick win at the No. 5 spot, defeating Rebecca Breland, 6-0, 6-1, to extend the hosts' lead to two points. Temple (0-2) got on the board at the No. 1 spot with a victory from Yana Mavrina, a second-team All-Atlantic 10 pick from last season – but the Owls would draw no closer.
 
Sophomore Ryann Young restored Cornell's two-point lead with a 6-0, 7-5 win at the No. 3 spot over Alicia Doms. Perelman then pulled out a three-set match over Agnese Rozite, 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 to clinch the match for the Big Red. Ordway had Cornell's final point by outlasting Batey at No. 2, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
 
The Big Red, which is now 8-1 all-time against the Owls, returns to action with a pair of 10 a.m. matches next weekend. Cornell hosts St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 11, then hits the road for the first time the following day at Buffalo.
