ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men's lacrosse program will welcome back the 1987 and 1988 squads that both finished as national runners-up this Saturday during halftime of its Ivy League battle against Brown. Prior to the game, the team will also honor its nine seniors. Face-off at Schoellkopf Field is slated for 3 p.m.

One season after finishing just over .500 (7-6), the 1987 Cornell squad made an improbable run to the NCAA championship game, where it fell to Johns Hopkins, 11-10, to finish the season at 13-1. Following the campaign, head coach Richie Moran earned his third and final Morris Touchstone Award as the Division I Coach of the Year, becoming just the second coach in the history of the award to win it three times. Tim Goldstein was also honored following the season, becoming the first Big Red player in over a decade's time to win the Lt. Raymond Enners Award as the nation's most outstanding player, as well as the Jack Turnbull Award as the top attackman in the country after setting the Cornell school record with 73 assists.

The 1988 team had similar success, posting a 9-6 record en-route to its second-straight trip to the NCAA championship game, where it fell to its upstate rival Syracuse to come away with the runner-up trophy.
