ITHACA, N.Y. – Great results continued to roll in for the Big Red women's track team as the Cornell had 15 ECAC qualifiers and 13 event wins at home in two events this weekend.

Resuming a decades-old relationship with the University of Birmingham, the Big Red hosted a tri-meet with their guests from the United Kingdom, as well as with local rival Binghamton on Friday afternoon at the Kane Sports Complex. And in addition, a handful of Cornell middle distance women competed at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday evening.

At the Larry Ellis meet at Princeton, senior Janel Parker continued her fantastic senior campaign with her second-best career time, placing fourth overall in the 1500 in 4:22.38. Sophomore Emily Shearer had another breakthrough, placing second in her heat (and 10th overall) with a personal record of 4:24.82.

Freshman Marianne Collard was also an ECAC qualifier with a time of 4:29.67, and sophomore Dale Kinney won her heat with a personal record of 4:33.46. In the 800, senior co-captain Molly Glantz easily bettered the ECAC standard with a time of 2:09.64, and freshman Jade Williams ran 2:11.96.

Warm weather, sunny skies and very breezy conditions provided optimal conditions in the sprints and jumps on Friday in Ithaca, but was a bit tricky for the distance events, 400 hurdles and pole vault. The pole vault was contested indoors due to unsafe high cross-winds. The Big Red took advantage of the nice spring day and good competition from Birmingham and Binghamton to have a very good day.

The Cornell women also had a very good day at home against Birmingham and Binghamton. Leading the way were some significant breakthroughs in the jumping events. Sophomore Anjelique Parnell became Cornell's third ever jumper over 20 feet with a big personal record of 20' 1/4”w, No. 3 all-time.

Also qualifying for ECACs was classmate Dominique Corley, who leapt 19' 1 1/2”. Senior Jess Wilson also performed great, reaching 18' 7” for fourth, and junior Becky DeLong was fifth at 18' 5 1/4”.

In the high jump, junior Ailish Hanly broke the facility record and moved to No. 4 all-time at Cornell with a personal record of 5' 7 3/4”, placing second. And in the triple jump, senior Kristin Brandt won with a mark of 39' 6” while junior Savannah Johnson was second at 38' 9 1/2”.

Junior Claire Dishong continued her winning ways in the pole vault, clearing 12' 1 1/2” (an ECAC qualifier) while senior Sam Brady was third at 11' 7 3/4”. In the throws, senior Erin Rossi placed first, yet again surpassing the ECAC standard with a mark of 173' 3” while a pair of freshmen also won: Feliciia Reid took the javelin with 135' 2” and Megan DeFord took the shot put at 42' 1/2”.

On the track, the Big Red had some fantastic sprint and hurdle efforts as well as very good contributions, despite the wind, from the longer events. The 4x100 of Parnell, freshman Zena Kolliesuah, sophomore Eboluatelese Airewele and freshman Katie Woodford ran 46.32 to place first and easily better the ECAC standard.

Woodford came back with a huge performance in the 200, shattering the facility and school freshman record with the No. 3 performance in school history, 24.15. Twin sister Emily Woodford was close behind with a big personal record and ECAC qualifier of her own, placing second in 24.85.

In the 100 hurdles, senior Taylor Baird moved to No. 5 all-time with a run of 14.13 for third, an ECAC qualifier. And freshman Mina Amick-Alexis was fourth in a personal record of 24.39, No. 9 all-time.

In the 100, senior co-captain Melissa Hewitt looked strong in winning in 12.13. Also placing first was senior Bry Bonavita, who ran 2:13.91, just ahead of junior Liz Reamer, who ran well to place second in 2:14.17. And in the 3K, junior Kate Rosettie closed very well to place first in very windy conditions, running 10:12.53. Classmate Cara Costich was second in 10:18.16 while senior Shelby Herman was third in 10:24.52.

The 4x400 of freshman Elyse Wilkinson (60.), Reimnitz (56.6), Airewele (54.9) and sophomore Ryan Woolley (57.4) ran an ECAC qualifying 3:50.13 to win the event.

In the 1500, the steeplechase duo of Genna Hartung (third, 4:36.29) and sophomore Rachel Sorna fourth, 4:38.19) ran well, as did senior Meghan Brown (fifth, 4:41.33). In the 3K steeplechase, freshman Corey Dowe was second in 11:13.49 while junior Suzana Markolovic was third in 11:19.74. In the 400 hurdles, senior Kelsey Reimnitz ran 63.62 for second and junior Mari Giurastante was third in 64.02.

Cornell alumni had a good Friday of racing as well. At Princeton, in the women's 3K steeplechase, Robyn Ellerbrock '07 continued her successful outdoor season with a fine run of 10:33.19. And competing out west at the Mt. SAC Relays, Kim Standridge '11 bettered the US Olympic Trials "B" standard with her best time in two years in the 800, crossing the line in a very good 2:05.80.

Next up is the Penn Relays, at Philadelphia's Franklin Field from April 26-28. Cornell will then host the Big Red Invite at the Kane Sports Complex on Sunday, April 29 before returning to Franklin Field for the Outdoor Heps on May 5-6.
