September Camp Roster

ITHACA, N.Y. – Six current members of the Big  Red women's hockey team have been placed on the roster for Hockey Canada's National Women's Team September Camp and Fall Festival, the organization announced on Thursday.

Current seniors Laura Fortino and Lauriane Rougeau, juniors Jessica Campbell and Brianne Jenner, sophomore Jillian Saulnier and freshman Cassandra Poudrier were all on the roster for Canada's 40-woman camp. Former Cornellian Rebecca Johnston, who won the gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics with Canada, also made the cut.

Fortino, Rougeau, Campbell, Jenner, Saulnier and Poudrier were all part of Hockey Canada's Under-22 Development camp last month that played a three-game series against the United  States. As part of this camp, held between Sept. 22-30 in Calgary, the group will be split into two teams for practices and intrasquad games as well as exhibitions against Midget AAA teams from Alberta.

The September Camp and Fall festival are used to evaluate players for potential inclusion in the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship and other events, including centralization for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Hockey Canada will continue to monitor the players throughout their college season at Cornell and in other international events during the year.
