ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell junior quarterback Jeff Mathews earned the fifth Ivy League weekly honor of his career when he was named Ivy League Football co-Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Freshman running back Luke Hagy captured his first award, taking home Ivy Rookie of the Week. Together, the duo helped lead a historic 45-6 rout of Yale in front of a Homecoming crowd at Schoellkopf Field this past weekend.

Cornell posted its largest margin of victory in a series that dates back to 1946 and scored the most points against the Bulldogs since 1949 in front of more than 15,000 in the Crescent in large part due to their offensive performance. The Big Red posted 482 yards of total offense, including outrushing Yale (142-139) and holding a more than 11 minute advantage in time of possession.

Mathews was again spectacular, completing 29-of-39 passes for 340 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. He posted his fourth straight 300-yard passing game and eighth in his career, matching a school record. Cornell scored touchdowns on five of its first eight possessions and rolled up 286 yards of offense in the first half in running out to a 35-0 lead by halftime. In the process, Mathews moved into third on the school's career passing yardage list (5,964 yards).

Hagy had a breakout performance in his first extended action, compiling 157 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. Hagy looked like a veteran with 21 carries for 88 yards on the ground to lead the Big Red rushing attack. He had 81 rushing yards by halftime and added 69 receiving yards on five catches. He became the first Big Red rusher to score two touchdowns since 2010.

Hagy, Mathews and the rest of the Big Red will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 29 when they visit Bucknell at 6 p.m. at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium in Lewisburg, Pa.
