OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Allyson DiMagno has been selected as one of 30 candidates for the 2013-14 Senior CLASS Award in women's collegiate basketball, as was announced today. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS Award honors the attributes of NCAA Division I senior student-athletes in four areas: community, classroom, character and competition.

A captain for the upcoming 2013-14 season, DiMagno is an accomplished and well-rounded student with a 3.77 grade-point average in biological sciences (biochemistry emphasis) with a minor in business. She serves as an academic tutor, helping her fellow student-athletes in classes ranging from general chemistry to financial accounting. DiMagnio was an Academic All-Ivy selection in 2012-13, and she was also the first-ever Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team selection in the history of the Cornell women's basketball program.

On the court, DiMagno was an All-Ivy selection a year ago after she setting the school record for rebounds in a single season (321). Despite standing at just 5-11, she finished the year ranked 12th in the nation and led the conference in rebounds per game (11.5). DiMagno was also the Big Red's leading scorer and averaged a double-double on the year (14.7 points, 11.5 rebounds), finishing the season with 16 double-doubles.

In the community DiMagno has volunteered at special events, including the Special Olympics, the Make-A-Wish-Make-A-Swish event, and a Be The Match bone marrow drive. She is also involved in numerous volunteer projects each semester as a member of SAAC, and Quill and Dagger. DiMagno has also volunteered for the Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen in Ithaca, and has helped organized the basketball team's Adopt-a-Family initiative each Christmas. Last summer, she volunteered in the Adolescent Psychiatry Ward at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, N.Y.

The list of 30 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists midway through the regular season, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select the candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition. ?

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Women's Final Four.
