Canadian Centralization Roster

ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell will be well represented on the Canadian national women's hockey centralized team as four Big Red skaters past and present were named to Hockey Canada's centralization roster on Thursday afternoon.

Seniors Laura Fortino and Lauriane Rougeau, junior Brianne Jenner and forward Rebecca Johnston '12 were four of the 27 players named to the centralization roster, and they have an inside track to make Canada's 2014 Olympic Team.

Johnston and Jenner were previously centralized in 2009, and Johnston made the 2010 Olympic Team in Vancouver where she won a gold medal in her home country.

Fortino, Rougeau, Jenner and Johnston won the silver medal with Canada at the IIHF World Championship in March. The centralization roster will go to Calgary in May for fitness testing and orientation, and their full-time training will start in August. As part of the centralization, the Cornell skaters will play at the 2013 4 Nations Cup in November in Lake Placid, N.Y., as well as nearly 30 games against Midget AAA boys' teams.

Hockey Canada will nominate its 2014 Olympic Team by late December.
