ITHACA, N.Y. – Former Cornell standout and 2013 Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Slogic has joined the USL PRO's Rochester Rhinos this spring.

A 6-6 defender from Colorado Springs, Colo., Slogic finished his illustrious career with the Big Red as the program's leader in minutes played with 5,894, including 5,123 consecutive minutes played dating back to October 2010. He tallied eight goals and six assists for 22 points with four career game-winning goals during his tenure on East Hill.

In his final season with the Big Red, Slogic anchored the back line, helping the team post a program-record goals against average of 0.60 this past season, while also serving as one of three captains. He earned first-team All-Ivy honors, was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list and was selected as a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award. Slogic was an NSCAA/Continental Tire Northeast Region first team selection for the second consecutive season and earned NSCAA Scholar All-East and All-America accolades and was chosen to the Academic All-Ivy League team. Slogic was assigned to the Columbus Crew in the 2014 MLS SuperDraft.

An affiliate of the New England Revolution (Major League Soccer), the Rochester Rhinos were founded in 1996 and currently play in the USL PRO Division, the top tier of the United Soccer Leagues. The Rhinos are one of the most successful soccer clubs in the United States outside of MLS, and have made appearances in eight finals and won four championships, including the 1999 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup and three A-League Championships (1998, 2000, 2001).

After missing the playoffs for the first time in the franchise's 19-year history last season, Rhinos Head Coach Bob Lilley brought 19 new players to Rochester. As one of those 19, Slogic has made an immediate contribution, starting last Saturday's game against the defending USL PRO champs Orlando City Lions. His defensive prowess will be key as the Rhinos' look for a postseason bid in 2014.

The Rochester Rhinos will host the Charleston Battery in its 2014 home opener on April 27 at Sahlen's Stadium in Rochester.
