Women's Hockey Announces Six Additions For 2014-15 Season

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Big Red women's hockey team has announced its incoming five-member Class of 2018, plus the return of senior forward Brianne Jenner. Cornell is coming off its fourth ECAC Hockey championship over the last five seasons and is looking to return to the NCAA Tournament for the sixth consecutive season. Jenner is rejoining the team after winning a gold medal with Team Canada in the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
 
Class of 2018

Amelia Boughn — Goaltender — Toronto, Ontario (Mississauga Junior Chiefs)
Boughn competed with the Mississauga Junior Chiefs, helping the team win a silver medal in the Provincial Women's Hockey League in 2014. She ranked second in the league with a .954 save percentage and was in the top five with a goals-against average of 1.32. In 2013, she was third in both GAA (1.45) and save percentage (.937). Boughn also competed with Team Ontario in the 2013 Under-18 national championships. She was named the squad's MVP in a 6-0 victory over Saskatchewan. Boughn also attended Team's Canada Under-18 Team selection camp, strength and conditioning camp and goalie camp.

The coaching staff on Boughn: "Amelia is a terrific goalie who has been recognized as one of the top goalies in Canada in her class. She is a real competitor and hard-working goaltender."

Sarah Knee — Defense — Toronto, Ontario (Toronto Aeros)
Knee competed with the Toronto Aeros, helping the team to a fourth-place finish in the Provincial Women's Hockey League last season. She competed on the Aeros' Midget AA team the two previous seasons, serving as captain in 2012-13 and helping the team to both the regular season and playoff championship in 2011-12. In 2013, Knee also attended Canada's National Women's Under-18 Team Conditioning Camp and was invited to the Team Ontario Final Selection Camp. She also competed in rugby and basketball for four years at North Toronto Collegiate Institute.

The coaching staff on Knee: "Sarah is a big, strong, steady defenseman with a powerful shot. She has a real presence on the ice and adds another dimension to our blue line."

Morgan McKim — Forward — Mars, Pa. (Shattuck-St. Mary's)
McKim joins the Big Red from Shattuck-St. Mary's in Minnesota, where she appeared in the USA Hockey National Championship U19 final last season. It was her third trip to a title game in nationals, also having played in the championship tilt in 2008 (with Team Pittsburgh U12) and 2009 (with Rochester Edge U14). She was invited to participate in four USA Hockey Player Development Camps and was selected to the USA Player Development All-Star Team. She was on the high honor roll in all four of her years at Shattuck-St. Mary's. Her previous club experience came with the Buffalo Bisons, the Rochester Edge and Team Pittsburgh.

The coaching staff on McKim: "Morgan is a highly skilled forward who will help us at both ends of the ice. She plays with a lot of passion, energy and competitiveness."

Erin O'Connor — Defense — Evanston, Ill. (Chicago Young Americans)
O'Connor was a three-year captain for the Chicago Young Americans AAA team. She helped the squad finish third in nationals in 2011, then was a three-time Blackhawk Alumni All-Star Team participant, an Illinois girls hockey all-state selection, and High Performance Hockey League Academic Achievement Award winner.

The coaching staff on O'Connor:"Erin is a very smart and skilled defenseman. She handles the puck very well, moves it very well and is a great skater."

Sydnee Saracco— Defense — Countryside, Ill. (Chicago Mission)
Saracco spent eight seasons competing with the Chicago Mission, winning an Illinois State championship and Central District championship in each of those seasons. She served as a team captain for seven of those seasons, helping lead the squad to four third-place finishes and three second-place finishes at the USA National Championships. Most recently, Saracco scored six goals to go with 16 assists for 22 points in 16 games with the Mission U19 team last season. She has also attended the USA Hockey National Development Camp from 2010-13.

The coaching staff on Saracco: "Syd is a highly competitive and talented defenseman who will also be an offensive threat whenever she is on the ice.
