Full Release CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada has announced the roster of players that were invited to participate at Canada's National Women's Team Fall Festival, taking place this week at WinSport's Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary. Seven current and former Cornell athletes were invited to take part in the week-long event.
The Fall Festival will give Team Canada and Cornell head coach
Doug Derraugh and excellent opportunity to make evaluations in preparation for selecting the team that will represent Canada at the 2015 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship, hosted in Malmö, Sweden, this coming April.
Players that Derraugh will be very familiar with are the seven that join him from Cornell. Big Red alum Rebecca Johnston joins six current team memebers:
Cassandra Poudrier,
Hanna Bunton,
Emily Fulton,
Jillian Saulnier,
Taylor Woods, and
Brianne Jenner. In all, 17 players that currently play their college hockey in the ECAC were invited to the event.
The schedule for the event includes work out sessions, concluding in an exhibition matchup each day.
