ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell rode a large advantage on bars to its first dual meet win of the year, topping Cortland 189.050-187.300 on Saturday afternoon at Teagle Gymnasium.
Freshman
Courtney Spitzer was the story for the Big Red in her first collegiate home meet, winning on bars (9.700) to lead a 1-2-3 Big Red sweep, and also taking the top spot on beam (9.800).
The duo of
Krystin Chiellini and
Lauren Wong (9.400) tied for second on vault as the team's top finishers, while
Joy Gage and
Elana Molotsky (9.650) tied for second on floor for the Big Red.
The Big Red returns to action on Sunday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m. when they visit Philadelphia, Pa. for a tri-meet with Penn and Ursinus.
