Spitzer Tops Field On Beam In Big Red Gymnastics Tri-Meet

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Freshman Courtney Spitzer continued her strong freshman season with an event-winning 9.825 on beam to top the three-team field as Cornell hit the 190.000 mark for the fifth straight meet (190.450), placing behind Bridgeport (193.750) and William & Mary (192.975) on Saturday afternoon at Teagle Gymnasium.

Spitzer's performance places her fifth all-time in Cornell history on beam and is the best score on the event by a Big Red gymnast in four years.

Spitzer had one of four individual top five finishes for the Big Red on the day, with Sara Schupp and Alicia Bair posting matching 9.650's in vault, good for fourth overall on the event, and Elana Molotsky placing third on bars with a 9.800.

Cornell will close its home season on Saturday, March 7 at 12 p.m. when Temple visits Teagle Gymnasium.
