ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell gymnasts won three of four individual events and the Big Red claimed its first Ivy Classic title since 2010 on Sunday afternoon at Newman Arena. Cornell and Brown tied atop the standings with dual 193.325's, the first time two teams matched scores for the title since the first Ivy meet in 1977.

The title, Cornell's 11th at the championship, was supported by 1-2 finishes on vault and beam and a pair of event victories by freshman Kaitlin Green. Green won bars with a 9.850, sharing the crown with Penn's Elyse Shenberger, and easily outdistanced teammate Malia Mackey by .100, scoring a 9.875. Mackey also won vault with a 9.775.

Heading into the final rotation with a narrow lead of .225, Cornell scored a very strong 48.125 on vault - the highest team score of the meet in the event - by Brown's 48.350 made the meet a tie. Cornell's final team score ranks as the second highest of the year and the fourth-highest in school history.

Mackey's 9.775 winning vault was just ahead of teammate Alicia Bair's 9.725, good for second. Sara Schupp (seventh, 9.600) and Lyanda Dudley (10th, 9.525) also finished among the top 10. Green's 9.850 bars routine was the lone Cornell score in the top four, though Elana Molotsky tied for fifth with a i.800 in a meet that saw six gymnasts hit 9.800 or better.

Green and Mackey were backed up on beam by Krystin Chiellini (fifth, 9.700) and Dudley (eighth, 9.675), while four Big Red gymnasts - Morgan Chall (second, 9.750), Molotsky (fourth, 9.725), Joy Gage (seventh, 9.700) and Dudley (10th, 9.675) - all ranked in the top 10 on floor. Dudley also was third among the all-arounders after a solid 38.350.

Yale held off Penn for third place, 191.650-191.050.

Cornell returns to action when it visits Kent State on Sunday, March 6 at 1 p.m. when it heads to Kent, Ohio for a dual meet.
