ITHACA, N.Y. -- Freshman
Dalton Macri was chosen as one of five wildcard selections at 125 pounds to the 2016 NCAA Championships to be held next weekend at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Macri becomes the ninth Cprnell wrestler to qualify for NCAAs, matching a school record for most qualifiers in one championship.
Macri finished fourth at the 2016 EIWA championships this past weekend at Princeton, helping the Big Red to its 10th consecutive conference crown. He will be one of five EIWA wrestlers to qualify at the weight and among a contingent of 64 EIWA wrestlers to qualify among the 330 participants at NCAAs in the 10 weights.
Macri, who has dipped in and out of the national rankings all season, has posted a 16-7 overall record with four of his seven losses coming by a takedown or less. In all, nine of his 16 wins have come with bonus points.
