WORCESTER, Mass. – The Big Red men's heavyweight rowing team sent four of five boats into the Grand Finals, and earned one medal, at the 2016 Eastern Sprints Regatta, held this morning on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
 
The varsity eight crew, which entered the regatta ranked sixth, ended up beating its seed with a fifth place finish, crossing the line in 5:43.723.  
 
The fourth varsity eight had Cornell's best finish of the day, taking home the bronze, while the third and fifth varsity eights finished just outside the medals in fourth place overall.
 
The second varsity eight rounded out the Big Red's performances with a second place finish in the Petite Finals to take eighth place overall.
 
Cornell has two weeks to prepare for the IRA National Championship, to be held on Mercer Lake from June 3 to June 5.
