WORCESTER, Mass. – The Big Red men's lightweight rowing team sent all five crews into the Grand Finals and picked up four medals this morning at the 2016 Eastern Sprints Regatta, held on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass.
For the first time since 2013, the varsity eight did not earn a medal at Eastern Sprints, as the crew was edged at the line by third-place Princeton.
The second varsity eight was even closer, as Yale took gold in a photo finish over the Big Red. The third varsity eight also took home silver.
The fifth varsity eight earned Cornell's lone gold medal of the regatta, while the fourth varsity took the bronze medal.
Cornell has two weeks to prepare for the IRA National Championship, to be held on Mercer Lake from June 3 to June 5.
