ITHACA, N.Y.Â
– On Saturday, Dec. 2, the Cornell women's lacrosse team held its 13th annual dodgeball tournament to benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Bartels Hall. The team is pleased to present the MS Society with a $730 donation on behalf of Cornell.Â
Â
Members of the men's lacrosse, football, baseball, lightweight crew and men's soccer teams along with members of Greek life made up the ten teams that competed in the bracket.
One lucky team on each side of the bracket had a bye round to start the tournament, while the other eight teams played a set of best two-out-of-three games to make it into the quarter finals. The last two teams standing were representing the men's lacrosse team and the baseball team, each winning one of the first two games. In the third contest between, each team was left with one man standing, and while the men's lacrosse team fought hard until the end, it was the baseball team that emerged victorious.
The members of the Cornell women's lacrosse team would like to extend a thank you to every team that participated in the event this year. The support from both participants and outside Cornellians made the tournament a very special one for everyone involved. The team would also like to thank the Ithaca community for their loyal support every year which allows for the tournament to be such a success. Cornell women's lacrosse also wants to show its appreciation for our local sponsors for their donations to the event. Donations from Coal Yard Cafe, AGAVA Restaurant, Simeon's American Bistro, Core Life Eatery, and Souvlaki House all helped make this year's tournament better than ever.
Â
The team would also like to thank Rachel Spoonhower '06 and Courtney Farrell '08 for all of the work they put in to create this event, which is now an annual team tradition that is looked forward to every year. Special thanks to Cornell tennis alumna Mindy Alpert, a member of the board of directors of the National MS Society and Stephanie Kunes, president of the Upstate New York chapter of the MS Society for their continued support of this special event.
