ITHACA, N.Y. — A small contingent from the men's track and field team are set to compete at in the 123rd running of the Penn Relays, which begin today and run through Saturday, at Franklin Field in Philadelphia. Cornell will also host the Big Red Invitational this Sunday at the Kane Sports Complex.
Sam Chauvin and
Connor Horn will run the 5000 meter on Thursday night while the Big Red also has teams entered in the 4x800 meter and the 4xMile relays on Saturday.

On Sunday, a large contingent of athletes will contest the lone home meet of the outdoor season going up against some familiar foes including Syracuse, Cortland, Ithaca College, Binghamton and Lock Haven.

It won't be the first time on the home oval, though, as a few athletes took part in the Ithaca College-hosted Tuesday Meet just a few days ago. The team put in strong performance across all event groups while competing against Ithaca, Cortland and SUNY Dehli.
The trio of freshman
James Norris, sophomore
Alex Beck and junior
Brailin Paulino combined for two podium sweeps in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Norris finished first in the 100 (10.94) and third in the 200 (22.44) while Paulino took third in the 100 (11.01) and first in the 200 (21.92) with Beck taking second in both the 100 (10.98) and 200 (22.24).
Freshman
Ben Fields ran to a first place finish in the 400 with a 48.94 while junior
Christian Belardi took first in the 100 meter hurdles (15.43). In the 400 meter hurdles, sophomore
Maxwell Comer (54.68) and senior
Rachid Zidani (54.93) went one-two.
Freshman
Malick Diomande won the high jump with a clearance of 6'4.75" while senior
Grant Sisserson (first, 16'8.75"), sophomore
Andrew Barlow (second, 15'7") and sophomore Edgar Eason (t-fourth, 14'7.25") took four of the top five spots in the pole vault. In the long jump, junior
Alex Rodriguez used a 23' leap to finish second while freshman
Jordan Testerman took third with a 22'11". Senior
Bryant Stuttle won the triple jump with a best of 45'9.25".
The Big Red took several spots in the discus throw: sophomore
Kevin Benson (first, 157'2"), freshman Sam Gomez (second, 148'5"), freshman
Zach Hawley (fourth, 144'6"), freshman
James Enriquez (fifth, 138'9") and junior
Eason Recto (ninth, 133'5"). Hawley and Gomez also competed in the shot put, with Hawley's heave of 49'10" winning and Gomez's 42'10.75" earning third. Senior
Martin Murillo took third in the hammer throw with a his throw of 177'4".
After competition closes on Sunday, the team will set its sights on the Ivy League Outdoor Heptagonal Championships May 6-7 at Yale.
