ITHACA, N.Y. – The Big Red women's rowing team will welcome Dartmouth on Senior Day, in a competition for the Parents Cup at the Cayuga Lake Inlet on Saturday, April 29. It will be a busy morning on the Inlet with the No. 1 men's lightweight program also hosting the No. 9 Big Green. Racing begins with the lightweights at 8:45 a.m. The first women's race slated for 8:50 a.m., while the Parents Cup will be contested at 9:15 a.m. The final race will go off at 10:45 a.m., after which the program will celebrate Senior Day.
 
THE PARENTS CUP: The Parents Cup was created in 2000 in recognition of the parents' support and is presented to the winner of the Dartmouth-Cornell regatta. Though first presented in 2000, the Cup was made retroactive to 1998.

THE SERIES HISTORY: Dartmouth has won the Parents Cup nine times since 1998, but had a five-year winning streak snapped during the 2011 season. Since that time, the Big Red has won five of six Parents Cups, including the victory in each of the past two seasons. In total, the Big Red has won 10 Parents Cups.
 
LAST TIME AT THE PARENTS CUP:  The Big Red won three of five races, including the varsity eight race for the Parents Cup, against Dartmouth on the Connecticut River. Cornell earns its second consecutive Parents Cup and has now won five of the last six. The Big Red started the day with a bang, winning the varsity eight race for the Parents Cup by just under four seconds, crossing the line in 6:24.8. Dartmouth responded with consecutive wins in the second varsity eight and the varsity four, but Cornell closed the day strong with commanding wins in the second varsity four and the third varsity eight.
 
UP NEXT: The Big Red will have two weeks to prepare for the Ivy League Women's Rowing Championship, which will take place Sunday, May 14 on the Cooper River in Camden, N.J.
