Women's Track & Field Unveils 21 Additions For 2017-18

ITHACA, N.Y. — Rich Bowman, the Alan B. '53 and Elizabeth Heekin Harris Head Coach of Women's Track and Field and Cross Country, announced Monday the program's 21 newcomers for the 2017-18 season.
 
State medalists and national caliber performers from 11 states as well, as Canada and Jamaica comprise the Big Red's additions.
 
JENNA BERRY
Pittsford N.Y./Pittsford Mendon HS/College of Architecture, Art and Planning
Section 5's top high jump talent and a New York Federation scorer, Jenna has recorded a best of 5-6 in her specialty event. 
 
KAITLYN BONNET
Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial HS/College of Human Ecology
A terrific middle distance runner, Kaitlyn was a mainstay for Haddonfield's top relay teams throughout her career.  She has personal bests of 2:14.42 for 800 meters and 5:05.23 for 1600 meters.
 
MEGAN CAMERON
Dublin, Ohio/Dublin-Coffman HS/College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
A state scorer in her Ohio meet, Megan is an excellent pole vaulter.  Her best of 12-6 ½ should impact the Ivy League immediately.
 
VICTORIA CASARRUBIAS
Boulder, Colo./Fairview HS/College of Arts and Sciences
A transfer from Macalaster College who will also join the soccer team, Victoria is an outstanding middle distance talent and has a personal best of 2:13.41 for 800 meters.
 
ISABELLA DOBSON
Elk Grove, Calif./Elk Grove HS/College of Arts and Sciences
A rapidly improving runner, Isabella placed 16th at the highly competitive California state cross country meet in a 5K best of 18:04.  She has a PR of 10:49.15 for 3200 meters on the track.
 
BROOKE ESTADT
Scott Township, Pa./Lakeland HS/College of Industrial and Labor Relations
A Pennsylvania state scorer in the triple jump, Brooke enters Cornell with a best of 38-1.  She was her district champion in both the long jump and triple jump.
 
ANNIE GLODEK
Schwenksville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley HS/College of Arts and Sciences
An individual qualifier for the Nike Cross Country Nationals, Annie was fifth in the Pennsylvania state meet as a senior.  She is also a very strong runner on the track, with a PR of 10:49.33 for 3200 meters.
 
 
KYRA HUNSBERGER
Reno, Nev./Reno HS/College of Arts and Sciences
One of Nevada's best in cross country, Kyra has been a state runner up at 1600 and 3200 meters on the track.  She has personal bests of 2:15.86 for 800 meters, 4:56.93 for 1600 meters, and 10:40.15 for 3200 meters.
 
KELLY JAWORK
Abington, Pa./Abington HS/College of Engineering
One of the best middle distance runners in Pennsylvania, Jawork was the lone qualifier for the finals of both the 800 and 1600 at the state meet.  She set personal bests of 2:11.46 and 4:51.19 in the process.
 
KELLIAN KELLY
Kingston, Jamaica/Wolmers School for Girls/College of Arts and Sciences
A multi-talented short sprinter, Kellian has competed regularly at the Champs in Kingston.  She brings to Cornell bests of 12.04 – 100 meters and 24.26 – 200 meters and should be an impact runner on the teams relays.
 
CORINNE KENNEDY
Lebanon, N.H./Lebanon HS/College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
Many times state champion in New Hampshire, Corinne has excellent multi-event skills.  She has excelled at the 100 hurdles, long jump, high jump and has bests of 43.04 – 300 hurdles, 39.99 – 300 meters, 54.8 – 400 meters and 2:08.61 – 800 meters. Corinne is a fierce relay runner and should see action in many of the Big Red's events here.
 
RAISA KOCHMARUK
Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty HS/College of Arts and Sciences
Twelfth in the PA state cross country meet as a senior, Raisa is a top distance runner and has run 11:08 for 3200 and 18:06 for 5K in cross country.
 
MARGUERITE LORENZO
Montreal, Quebec/College International Marie de France/College of Engineering
An excellent multi-event athlete scoring a personal best 4250 in the heptathlon, Marguerite is also an accomplished high jump talent with a best of 5-7.
 
ANNIKA OPSASNICK
Cupertino, Calif./St. Francis HS/College of Engineering
A talented multi-sport athlete, Annika was chosen as her school's most valuable senior athlete. In track, she excels in the triple jump, reaching a mark of 38-0.
 
GABRIELLE ORIE
Orchard Park, N.Y./Nardin Academy/College of Human Ecology
A gifted middle distance and distance runner with exceptional range, Gabrielle has personal bests of 2:14.53 for 800 meters and 10:00.54 for 3000 meters.  She also proved to be one of the nation's best in the steeplechase, running 6:59.05 for the 2K steeple.
 
LEYA SALIS
Bedford, N.H./Bedford HS/College of Human Ecology
A multiple state champion in high school and the runner-up at the New England high school championships in cross country, Leya won the Penn Relays high school Girls Mile Championship as a senior.  She has personal bests of 2:07.32 for 800 meters, 2:48.25 for 1000 meters and 4:45.16 for the mile.
 
SKYE STEWART
Virginia Beach, Va./Landstown HS/College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
A dominant presence in the long sprints as a prep in Virginia, Skye has a best indoors for 500 meters – 1:17.95 and outdoor 400 meters – 56.96.  She was a consistent state qualifier and scorer throughout her prep career.
 
SAMANTHA STETZ
South Huntington, N.Y./St. Anthony's HS/College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
A member of the All-Long Island track team, Samantha is a veteran of many New York Federation championships.  Her bests are 38-2 in the triple jump and 18-0 in the long jump.
 
ERIKA TILLOTSON
Victor, N.Y./Victor Central HS/College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
Among New York state's top 400 hurdle talents, Erika finished second at the Federations with a best of 61.88.  She was her section's champion in her event specialty and also captured the golf title.
 
KENENNI WIEGAND
Bozeman, Mont./Bozeman HS/College of Arts and Sciences
A key part of the powerhouse Bozeman cross country team, Kenenni placed a terrific 46th at the Nike Cross Country Nationals and has a 5K cross country best of 18:22.
 
MELISSA ZAMMITTI
Mooresville, N.C./Lake Norman HS/College of Human Ecology
A North Carolina state champion at 800, 1600, and 3200 meters, Melissa has personal bests of 2:13.10, 4:56.57, and 10:54.73.  She also finished in the top 15 of the Footlocker South Regional as a senior.
