Six of his goals came on the power play, while another three were game-winners. He opened the year strong, scoring at least one point in each of the first six games and nine of the first 10, recording 16 points over that span. He had 10 multi-point games on the season, including two three-point games on Nov. 6 against Dartmouth (1g, 2a) and Nov. 14 (0g, 3a). He scored the game-winning goals on Nov. 6 against Dartmouth, on Dec. 4 against RPI and on Feb. 12 against Brown. He also excelled in the classroom, earning ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA First-Team Academic All-America honors.

Junior Season - 2008-09

Greening took yet another step toward becoming one of college hockey's premier power forwards as a junior, finishing second on the team in scoring with his second straight 30-plus point season. He earned second team All-ECAC Hockey honors and was the only unanimous selection to the All-Ivy League first team. He appeared in all 36 games on the year, tallying a career-best 15 goals and adding in 16 assists for 31 points. Greening proved to be a key member of the power play unit, scoring eight of his goals on the man advantage, while four of his markers were game-winners. He finished the season tied for 19th in the nation with the four game-winning goals, and was tied for 39th in the country in power play goals. Greening also ranked 56th in the country in goals per game (0.42) and was tied for 87th in the nation in points per game (0.86). He scored the game-winning goal against Princeton in double overtime in the ECAC Hockey semifinals and had nine multi-point games on the year, including tallying a goal and an assist in the NCAA Midwest Regional Semifinal against Northeastern. Greening, who served as a team co-captain along with Michael Kennedy, added a goal in both games of the trip to North Dakota, including the game-winning goal on Nov. 29. He had four points in the two games against rival Harvard, scoring two goals in Cambridge on Feb. 14 and picking up a pair of assists at Lynah Rink on Nov. 14. Greening capped off his season by becoming just the third Cornell player to ever earn ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, being named to the second team.

Freshman Season - 2006-07

Greening then recorded the first of two three-point games on Feb. 10 at Rensselaer, scoring two goals and adding an assist. He posted another three-point game a week later in the 8-4 win over Princeton, scoring once and adding a pair of assists.
