Biography

In 2013-14 (senior)
Scelfo battled injuries throughout his senior season, but he was still able to see action in 23 games with one start. Scelfo averaged 2.7 points, 1.0 assists and 0.8 rebounds while playing 15.0 minutes per game. He opened the season with 10 points, three assists and two rebounds in a narrow loss to Binghamton and scored nine points, including 3-of-7 from 3-point range, in the season-opening defeat at nationally-ranked Syracuse. He ended the season with an impressive 22 assists to just eight turnover ratio.

In 2012-13 (junior)
Scelfo had a breakout junior season, averaging 5.1 points to go along with 1.1 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 14.9 minutes per game. He saw action in a career-high 28 contests with seven starts. Scelfo scored a career-high 15 points with four rebounds and two steals in the win over Dartmouth and matched that with 15 points vs. Penn. He was credited with 13 points in his first collegiate start, a win at American. Scelfo also notched 10 points and two steals against Bucknell and notched 14 points to go along with two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 16 minutes at Binghamton. Scelfo ranked third on the team with his 30 3-point field goals.

In 2011-12 (sophomore)
Scelfo played in 11 contests off the bench as a freshman and scored 15 points with four assists and three rebounds in 55 minutes of action. He hit 36 percent from 3-point range (5-of-14) during the year. Scelfo hit 3-of-7 shots from deep for nine points and added a rebound and an assist in 20 minutes at Princeton. He made his collegiate debut with eight minutes of action off the bench at St. Bonaventure. Scelfo hit a pair of 3-pointers for his six points.

In 2010-11 (freshman)
Scelfo suffered a preseason injury and missed the entire campaign.

At Jesuit HS
Scelfo was a second-team all-district selection as a senior at Jesuit HS despite missing most of his senior season due to injury. He was ranked No. 15 on scout.com’s list of top 50 high school seniors in the state of Louisiana in 2010 and was a McDonald's High School All-America nominee. Scelfo was named district MVP after scoring better than 18 points per game as a junior. He shot 58 percent from 3-point range and 92 percent from the free-throw line. Scelfo was named to the Clarion Herald’s Elite Team. the All-New Orleans/St. Bernard Parish team and four different all-tournament squads. Scelfo was a three-year all-district pick in basketball and also played on the baseball team for two years.

Personal
Dominick Albert Scelfo is the son of Sam Paul and Jackie-Sue Scelfo and has three brothers and a sister. His father played football at Tulane and an uncle, Chris, is the tight ends coach for the Atlanta Falcons. He has numerous uncles and cousins who have played college sports. Scelfo is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
