Hortelano-Roig had another fantastic year in his final season for the Big Red. He dominated the sprints during the early part of the season, taking 1
st place in the 60 and 200 at several events. However, his season kicked into really high gear at the SPIRE NCAA Indoor Invitational where he placed 2
nd in the 200. He had a huge performance at the Indoor Heps. He paced the field in both the 60 and the 400, posting a career best 6.69 in the 60. He wrapped his indoor career at the NCAA Indoor Championships placing 8
th in the 200 with a career best time of 20.75.

The outdoors proved just as friendly to Hortelano-Roig. He played an integral role on the Big Red’s wildly successful 4x1 relay team. The team took 3
rd place at the Stanford Invitational and took 1
st place at the Penn Relays and the Outdoor Heps. He also finished 1
st in the 400 at the Spring Invitational and in the 200 at the Larry Ellis Invitational. In his swan song at the Outdoor Heps, he also took 1
st place with career best time of 10.48 in the 100.
As a Junior (2012-13)After taking the 2011-12 season off to compete with the Spanish National Team and attempt a spot in the Olympics, Hortelano-Roig returned to Cornell and had a tremendous year. He began his success in 2013 with the Indoor Heps where he was on the Big Red's second-place 4x440-yard relay team and won the 400 as an individual. He then took fourth in the 200 at the Indoor IC4As and was on Cornell's winning 4x100 IC4A relay at the Penn Relays. At the Outdoor Heps, he was named the meet's Most Outstanding Track Performer after running on the winning 4x100 relay team, the second-place 4x400 relay team and winning the 400 as an individual to help contribute 28 points for the Big Red. At the Outdoor IC4As, he was sixth in the 200-meter dash and the 100 as well. He earned a trip to the NCAA East Regional in the 200 as an individual and in the 4x100 relay with three teammates. In the 200, he just missed qualification by thousands of a second when he took fourth in his heat. But the 4x100 relay team went under 40 seconds for the first time since 1978 and picked up a spot in the NCAA Outdoor Championship. He had personal bests during the season in the 200, 300, 400 and 500.
As a Freshman (2009-10)Hortelano-Roig started his freshman year strong, running a personal record to place second in the 60m at the Indoor HEPS, and was able to extend his success to the outdoor season where he won both the 100m and the 200m at the Outdoor HEPS, as well as being a part of the winning 4x100m team, all in personal best times.
The summer of his freshman year he represented Spain at the IAAF World Junior Championships, where he competed in the 200m. Although he made the semifinal round, he was unable to compete due to a stress fracture that developed in his tibia. Hortelano-Roig missed the Indoor HEPS of his sophomore year after a seven-month recovery time for the stress fracture. When he returned to the track, he ran a personal-best time of 10.52 in the 100m. During the summer season Hortelano-Roig came strong at the Spanish U23 Championships, earning a bronze medal in 100m and a silver medal in the 200m, and was selected to represent Spain at the U23 European Championships in the 100m and the 4x100m relay. His participation was limited to the 100m after a recurrence of his hamstring injury.
Before CornellHortelano-Roig finished fourth in the OFSAA 100m in 2009, while twice winning conference honors in the 110m hurdles and three times in the 100m. He was a two-time team most valuable sprinter. Hortelano-Roig also played football, earning team defensive MVP honors in 2007.
PersonalBruno Dominix Hortelano-Roig is the son of Gonzalo Hortelano and Pilar Roig and has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
