Biography
Prior to Cornell
Garcia-Canga was a state qualifier in both swimming and cross country at Champaign Centennial HS. A conference in the 200 IM and a sectional champion in the 200 free, he was an all-conference selection in swimming, track and field and cross country. He captained the swimming team in his final season and the cross country squad as both a junior and senior and earned team most valuable player accolades in both sports. Garcia-Canga earned a total of 18 varsity letters in her three sports. In cross country, he took home the Clutch Performer and the Most Accomplished Athlete Awards.
Personal
Blas Ignacio Garcia-Canga is the son of Marcelo Garcia and Estela Canga and has a younger sister. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
