Lane helped the Big Red win the National Duals title by splitting his two bouts in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He then notched third place at the New York State Championships with a 5-1 performance after which he became Cornell’s full time heavyweight starter for the remaining dual portion of the schedule. After going 3-2 against Ancient Eight opponents, including pins against Charles Fox of Princeton and Tyler Cowman of Brown, Lane was named to the Honorable Mention All-Ivy team. He finished the year strong with a fifth place showing in a deep heavyweight class at the EIWA tournament. Lane was awarded the Russ Martin Outstanding Freshman Award at the year end banquet.
