2011-12
Stanzione compiled a 23-9 record in his second season with the Big Red. He had 13 bonus wins including eight by fall.  He placed fifth at 141 pounds at the Body Bar Invitational before taking sixth at the Mat Town Open. Stanzione finished in third place at the New York State Intercollegiate Championships before claiming titles at the Edinboro Open and National Collegiate Open. Stanzione also wrestled at the Binghamton Open and Southern Scuffle. 

2010-11
Stanzione made the finals of the first two tournaments he entered at 133 pounds. He won the title at the Binghamton Open, during which he went 5-0 with two pins, a major and a dominating victory over nationally ranked Kyle Hutter of Old Dominion in the championship match. Stanzione followed that with a runner up finish at the Body Bar Invitational. He registered a pair of falls at the Las Vegas Invitational and two more pins at the Southern Scuffle. Stanzione was part of the lineup that won Cornell’s first National Duals crown in January. He won 12 matches overall, eight by bonus points.

Prior to Cornell
Stanzione served as team captain at Blair Academy in 2008, finishing third at high school senior nationals that year. He was part of the 2006 national championship team and was the 2006 and 2007 national prep runner-up.

Personal
Joseph Ray Stanzione is the son of Sal and Linda Stanzione and has two sisters. He is majoring in nutritional sciences in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
