Attah's up-to-date results
As a Senior (2016-17)
Attah had a strong senior season for the Cornell sprints squad, earning 23 top 10 finishes and four top five finishes between the indoor and outdoor Ivy League Track and Field Championships. Indoors, he had a second place finish in the 400 at the Robert J. Kane Invitational, a third place finish in the 400 (49.05) at the Nittany Lion Challenge and was part of a first place 4x400 squad at the Fastrack National Invitational. He finished fourth in the 400 at indoor Heps and finished fourth with the 4x400 team. Attah also won the 300 at the Cornell Cabin Fever Invitational. Outdoors, Attah won the 400 at the Transatlantic Series and hit a year-best of 47.24 in the event to take third at outdoor Heps.
As a Junior (2015-16)
Attah had a successful junior campaign, making it all the way to the NCAA Division I Outdoor East Preliminary Round in the 400 where he set a collegiate personal best in 46.91. He started the indoor season with a first place finish in the 400 and 500 at the Southern Tier Collegiate Open and ended it with a second place finish at the Ivy League Indoor Championships (47.09). Outdoors, Attah also took first place in the 400 at the UC Riverside Spring Break Invitational and the Bison Outdoor Classic before a first place finish at the Ivy League Outdoor Championships. He also helped the Big Red 4x400 relay team to two first place finishes in the spring, including at the Ivy League Outdoor Championships.
As a Sophomore (2014-15)
Attah continued to be strong in his sophomore season, with his 48.25 time in the 400 at Ivy Indoor Heptagonals putting him at no. 8 all-time at Cornell for the event. He began the 2015 campaign with a win in the 400 (49.84) at the Southern Tier Open. He also won the 400 in 49.24 at the Upstate Challenge, where his 4x400 relay team also picked up a win. He helped the Big Red to a team win at the Beantown Challenge with a second-place finish in the 400 (48.99) and a third-place finish with his 4x440-yard relay team. His 4x400 team picked up the no. 8 spot on the all-time list at Cornell with their 3:12.68 finish at the SPIRE Invitational. Outdoors, his 4x400 team took the Heps title, crossing the line in 3:10.90. He also ran a personal-best 47.88 to take second in the 400 at Outdoor Ivy League Heptagonals.
As a Freshman (2013-14)
Attah was an immediate contributor for the Big Red in his freshman campaign. He had a huge performance in just his 2
nd collegiate event at the Cornell Southern Tier Collegiate Open. Attah posted career best marks in both the indoor 400 (49.66) and the indoor triple jump (45’ 10.75”) to take home 1
st and 2
nd place honors respectively. He continued his strong season with another 1
st place finish with a time of 49.80 in the 400 at the Cornell Upstate Challenge. He posted a career best outdoor 400 meter time of 48.51 in a 4
th place finish at the Bison Outdoor Classic. The freshman was also a key contributor on the Big Red’s fantastic 4x4 team, which took home four 2
nd place honors and two 1
st place finishes during the 2013-14 season.
Before Cornell
Attah was a three-year captain of the track and field team at Irving HS from 2010-2013, and won district championships in 2012 and 2013. He also ran with the Texas Torch Track Club. In 2011 he was the USA Track and Field District 12 Champion in the 400-meter dash with a personal record of 48.85 seconds.
Personal
Tobenna Vincent Attah is the son of Aloysius and Geraldine Attah and has two older brothers, Uzoma and Ike. He is enrolled in the College of Human Ecology.
