As a senior (2018-19)

• Set a school record in the 400 IM with a 10th-place effort in 3:52.26, lowering a nine-year-old mark.
• Posted a top 10 career time in the 500 free (4:29.94).
• Also scored at the championship meet in the 200 fly.
• Finished first in the 400 IM, second in the 200 butterfly and third in the 500 free at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.
• Topped the field in the 1,000 free in dual meet wins at St. Bonaventure and Bryant.
• Shared the team's Hardest Worker Award for swimmers with Jake Lawson.
 

As a junior (2017-18)

• Scored for the Big Red in the mile (23rd), 200 IM (16th) and 400 IM (13th) at the 2018 Ivy League Championship.
• Swam the third-fastest 400 IM in school history, touching the wall in 3:54.72.
• Took second in the 400 IM against St. Bonaventure and placed fourth in the 1,000 free vs. Brown.
• Won three events at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational, taking the top spot in the 200 fly, 400 IM and 1,650 free.
• Also placed second in the 500 free.
 

As a sophomore (2016-17)

• Posted the team's fastest 400 IM time on the season and ranked second in the 200 fly and 1,650 free.
• Had the seventh-fastest time in school history in the 1,650 free (15:43.52) and also scored in the 200 fly and the 400 IM at the Ivy League Championships.
• Took 13th overall in the 400 IM with a time of 3:57.06.
• Swam a fast 3:55.29 in the 400 IM earlier in the year at the Akron Zippy Invitational, the second-fastest mark in school history, in taking first place.
• Was third in both the 200 fly and the 1,650 free at the Zippy Invite.
• Took third in the 200 IM against Columbia.
 

As a freshman (2015-16)

• Recorded top 10 school marks in the 200 fly, the 1,000 free and the 400 IM.
• Had the second-fastest time in Big Red history in the 400 IM with a 3:56.29 prelim time at the 2016 Ivy League Championship.
• Posted the eighth-fastest time in Cornell history in the 200 fly, placing 14th.
• Was 18th in the 1,000 free in 9:22.62 (No. 9 all-time at Cornell), nearly a half-minute faster than his seed time.
• Won the 500 and 1,650 free and 400 IM races at the Ithaca Bomber Invitational.
• Also placed second in the 200 fly at the meet.
• Was second in the 400 IM in the dual meet against Yale.
• Recorded the team’s top time in the 400 IM and the third-fastest marks in the 1,000 and 1,650 free and 200 fly races.
 

Prior to Cornell

• Russiello was a conference record-holder in two events at James Madison HS.
• Named to the all-metro team in three seasons.
• Finished in the top three in the state in each of his last two seasons.
• Was a consolation finalist at junior nationals.
• Captained the team his senior year.
• Finished as the high-point runner-up as Speedo sectionals.
• Also played two seasons of lacrosse as a midfielder.
 

Personal

• Ian David Russiello is the son of Michael and Kathryn Russiello and has two older brothers.
• Enrolled in the School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
