2011 Football Notes

INDIVIDUAL NOTES
* Sophomore Jeff Mathews broke the Ivy League single-game passing yardage record of 548 yards, passing Brown's Michael Dougherty who had 526 yards at Holy Cross in 2008. He also broke his own schools mark of 521 yards set last weekend against Columbia.
* Mathews is the only Ivy League quarterback in history to have two 500-yard passing games in a career and the first to do it in consecutive games.
* His 548 passing yards gave him 3,412 for the season, breaking the Ivy League season mark of James Perry of Brown, who had 3,255 yards in 1999. The previous Cornell record was 2,944 yards by Ricky Rahne in 2000.
* Mathews' five touchdown passes also tied his own single-game school mark set last weekend.
* Mathews ended the season with 25 touchdown passes on the year, matching the single season mark established by Ricky Rahne in 1999.
* Mathews' 35 completions give him 250 for the season, the third-most in a season at Cornell.
* His 35-of-45 passing on the day put his completion percentage at a school-record .679.
* Mathews posted a passing efficiency of 162.26, another school record and fourth in a single season in Ivy League history.
* His 528 yards of total offense against Penn is a new school record, breaking the mark of 497 he set last weekend. It ranks second behind Michael Dugherty's 538 yards at Holy Cross in 2008 for Brown.
* Mathews' 3,274 yards of total offense broke the season record of 3,036 by Ricky Rahne in 2000. The total ranks third in a single season in Ivy history.
* His six 300-yard games, three 400-yard games and two 500-yard games are all season school records.
* Senior Shane Savage hauled in three touchdowns, giving him a school record 12 in 2011. That mark ranks sixth all-time in Ivy history.
* Savage became the second Cornellian to surpass 1,000 yards in a season, ending with 1,080 yards, another school record. He surpassed the 1,042 yards by Eric Krawczyk in 1997. It also sits 10th all-time in Ivy history.

* Savage's 149 yards gave him his fifth 100-yard game of the season.
* With 16 career receiving touchdowns, Savage moved into third on the school's all-time charts.
* Juniors Kurt Ondash (856) and Luke Tasker (827) joined Savage as receivers with over 800 yards this season. Entering the year, there were only four seasons of 800+ receiving yards. The trio ranks first, fourth and seventh on the season list for the Big Red.
* Ondash's 197 yards receiving against Penn ranks No. 3 on the school's single-game list. He also posted his third 100-yard game.
* Savage, Ondash and Tasker each caught at least one pass in all 10 contests. Savage has now caught a pass in 30 straight games and Tasker has a streak of 20 games.
* Senior place-kicker Brad Greenway booted all six extra points, making him 36-of-36 for the season. That not only broke the record of 32 PAT kicks by Peter Zell in 2008. It is also the most PAT kicks without a miss in a season.
* With 75 points, Greenway was the team's leading scorer for the fourth straight year. Now player had ever topped that list for four varsity seasons.
* The 75 points also broke a single-season kick scoring record, previously 72 by A.J. Weitsman in 2005.
* Greenway closed his career with 189 career points, good for third all-time. It also is a record for kickers.
* Greenway's 75 points is eighth all-time at Cornell in a single season.
