The 2005 Big Red
Cornell had one of its greatest seasons in a storied volleyball history, going 19-6 and winning its second consecutive Ivy League title with a 12-2 mark. The Big Red earned its second NCAA tournament appearance in program history, dropping a 3-0 contest to Northeast Conference champion Long Island. The Big Red was honored regionally and nationally for their efforts. Elizabeth Bishop, a unanimous selection for Ivy League Player of the Year, was a first-team all-region pick for the second straight year and was an honorable mention All-American by the AVCAm the first Cornell player to earn national honors. Joanna Weiss was also named to the All-Ivy first team, while Kramer and senior middle blocker Heather Young were second team picks. The team also was rewarded for its efforts in the classroom, as senior setter Whitney Fair, junior outside hitter Alaina Town and sophomore setter Amy Gordon were each named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District second team.
