The 1977 Big Red
Cornell set a school record with 29 wins and finished two wins shy of advancing to the College World Series and won a share of the EIBL title with its 11-3 record. The Big Red won a one-game playoff against Columbia to earn its NCAA Bid, then knocked off St, John's and Connecticut in the regionals before dropping tight contests to Temple and a rematch against St. John's in the double elimination tourney. Cornell had three All-EIBL first-team selections in pitcher Gary Gronowski, outfielder Dave Johnson and second baseman Ken Veenema, while third baseman Zane Gramendidis, first baseman Gary Kaczor and catcher Joe Roche were first-team picks for legendary head coach Ted Thoren.
