The 2008-09 Big Red
After winning its first Ivy League title in 20 years in 2007-08, much was expected of the Big Red in 2008-09. And Cornell delivered. Though not as dominant as the previous year when it ran through the conference with a perfect 14-0 mark, Cornell still became the first Ivy League school other than Penn or Princeton to claim consecutive Ioutright Ivy League titles with its 21-10 record (11-3 Ivy). The Big Red became the first team in the country to clinch a berth to the national tournament for the second straight year, setting records for points (2,281) and 3-pointers (241) along the way.
Junior Ryan Wittman was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection and earned a spot on the NABC all-district team, while Louis Dale was also a first-team All-Ivy pick and second-team all-district honoree. Jeff Foote was awarded the league's inaugural Defensive Player of the Year honor, was placed on the All-Ivy second-team for the second straight year and was a second-team NABC all-district pick. Chris Wroblewski became the third Cornell player in four years to capture the league's Rookie of the Year honor. Cornell fell in the first round of the NCAA tournament to No. 3 seed Missouri, the Big 12 tournament champions, by a 78-59 score.
