The 2001 Big Red
The Big Red captures an Ivy League title and a trip to the NCAA tournament after knocking off Harvard in consecutive games on the road in a league playoff, 5-3 and 3-2. Cornell finished the year at 36-18 (11-3 Ivy League), going 24-6 in its final 30 games. Freshman Kate Varde was named Ivy League Rookie of the Year and joined outfielder Erin Sweeney on the All-Ivy first-team. Cornell drops games to Louisiana State and Penn State in the Region III pod of the NCAA tournament. Freshman Melissa Cannon sets a school record with a nine-RBI game in a 14-10 victory over Brown.
