Women's Hockey Adds Four Newcomers For 2011-12 Campaign

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell University women's ice hockey program and head coach Doug Derraugh '91 have announced that four newcomers will join the Big Red for the upcoming 2011-12 season. Three forwards and a goalkeeper will add to the talent and depth of a squad coming off consecutive Frozen Four appearances, including a national runner-up finish in 2010.

Emily Fulton * Fr. * F * 5-5 * Stratford, Ontario (Bluewater Hawks)
Fulton is a forward who spent the 2010-2011 season as team captain of the Bluewater Hawks of the PWHL. Additionally, she represented Canada at the 2010 and 2011 U18 Women's World Championships, winning a gold and silver medal at the respective competitions in Chicago, Ill. and Sweden. She is a tough and passionate competitor who has the ability to break down opposing defenses with her power, hockey sense and stick skills.

Monika Leck * Fr. * F * 5-6 * Nepean, Ontario (Ottawa Jr. Senators)
Leck is a forward who played for the Ottawa Jr. Senators in the 2010-2011 season.  As captain of the PWHL squad, she led the team in goals, assists and points. Leck has a strong physical presence and possesses strong hands and finish around the net.

Katelyn Pippy * Fr. * GK * Moon Township, Pa. (Pittsburgh Jr. Penguins)
Pippy played the 2010-2011 season with the Pittsburgh Junior Penguins. She is a goalie who has competed at the USA Hockey National Selection Camps on a number of occasions in the summer. Her credentials stretch beyond her technical prowess in the crease as she began her acting career at age 9 and is currently starring in the Lifetime television drama "Army Wives."

Jillian Saulnier * Fr. * F * Dartmouth, Nova Scotia (Toronto Aeros/Canada U18)
Saulnier captained the 2010-11 Toronto Aeros of the PWHL in addition to her duties as a forward on Canada's U22 National Team. This summer she has an opportunity to again suit up for the U22 Canadian squad as she was invited to the selection camp in August. Saulnier is a complete player with dynamic offensive skills and the competitive desire to match.
